Unbelievable.
A few days ago, a little boy named Luis Santiago was kidnapped on Chia a little town close to Bogotá the capital city of my country: Colombia. A lot of people now, that my country has a lot of problems but away from a lot people think, Colombia is a country which has more good people than bad, for that reason as a Colombian I'm indignant. Keeping forward with the story, the boy was kidnapped. The kidnappers broke into his house, tied the hands and the feet of the mother and hitted her. Finally, she could release herself and the local authorities came into her rescue. The search for the boy started and rapidly the media started to spread information about the little boy and houndreds of people join to the mother and her family in their sorrow. The parents of the little boy were divorced, the father and the mother had some issues about the maintenance fees of the boy. But in the last few days they gather together and the father begged for his little boy's liberation on national tv and even with tears in his eyes.
The kidnappers of this boy, wasn't the guerrilla, wasn't common criminals asking for money. The kidnappers never called asking for money or anything else. After all the police investigation, the police department interrogated to little boy's father and finally a horrible confession came out from his mouth: He ordered to a group of people, to kidnap and kill his own son. The next morning (today) the police found out a black bag at the outside of the town, the death body of the little boy was found. He had been killed by his own father the same day of his kidnapping. Luis Santiago, was only 11 months.
Even with all our issues, this is evil, mean, cruel and unexpected. The whole country is angry, we, the people want justice. Today hundreds of people, gathered together in the main square of Chia, to pray and regret the murder of this little boy. Nobody though that this situation was going to end like this.
Don't generalize, this not only happen here in Colombia or Latinamerica, this kind of things happen around the world. There is a lot of cases like this around the world, this must to stop.
Right now in Colombia there is a initiative which is running now, to collect signings of 2 million people to modify the sentences on the cases were children get hurt, this initiative covers: from rape crimes against children to murder and kidnapping against children. If the congress approves this modification of the senteces, the people who hurt children could receive life imprisonment.
The mother of little Santiago had a emotional break today when she found out about the death of his son (and who was the responsable), she had to check in on hospital. The thoughs of a whole entire country are with she and her family. We deeply sorry for this horrible act of violence against an indefense human been.
